\nand i realize: everyone has the madness
\neveryone has a number printed on their forehead

\nand it is our chance of flipping out
\nand killing someone<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"so what is the threshold
\nat which one should take action?
\nat what number should one suggest
\nthat someone should take a break?
\nthat someone should seek help?
\nthat someone should be taken away in a crate
\nwith a sign marked The Madness<\/em>?<\/p>\n

is your number better if you are clean and poli\"\"te
\nyet stare into the distance for hours at a time
\nwith a glaze over your eyes that recognizes no human animation?
\nor is it preferable to smell like a rotting dog,
\nand be upfront about your desire for the things that other people have?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>so i’m slurping and lurking at this place and wondering:
\nwho makes the numbers to place upon the foreheads,
\nand who says what they mean?
\nand is there a statistician that can calculate compound probability
\nand tell me what my chances of surviving this terrifying trip are?<\/p>\n

and where is the nearest mirror?<\/p>\n
