San Francisco

Perhaps there is nothing to discuss
Perhaps even the hapless pursuit of “real” discussion
Is not worthy of discussion
Well, not real discussion anyway
Look, I’m just trying to destroy civilization
Is that too little to contemplate?
Too trivial to tempt you into contemplation?
Well, I guess so be it
It’s not my problem; at least, not my sort of problem
I’m just trying to destroy civilization
Perhaps in doing so
I can reduce the amount of things that require discussion
Groups
That’s a funny word
Hey, I don’t want to kill you or anything
Or corrupt your digital soul
I’m just trying to destroy civilization
What could be simpler or blander or sweeter than that?

Perhaps the many words spent trying to
Dissect a singularity
Have been wasted
Because there was nothing inside
(are you empty inside
Or full of empty things?)
Oh woe and jollification mixed with acid lubricant
How simultaneously paltry and immense you are!
Can I get on with destroying civilization now?

Why can’t you bring yourself to be either functional or dysfunctional
And stop hovering in between states
Too gutless to do anything properly?
Remember
You are not judged for your failure
But for your lack of success
It’s a thing that will carry on
Long after I’m done with destroying civilization

Are we discussing anything now?
Is this a new franchise of discourse
Or a shroud to enshroud a disguise
In something longing to appear sincere?
I don’t know
I’m far too distracted
And I swear to you
City
It’s honestly why I’m here
It’s an innocent thing
It’s as pure as an absolute vacuum

I’m just trying to destroy civilization
